The competition jury, appointed by Mayor Robert Relich, the initiator of the competition for Nowogrodziec’s bugle call, selected the winning composition after reviewing nine submissions. The author of the town and municipality’s bugle call is Włodzimierz Ruciński, a composer from Nowogrodziec, a graduate of the K. Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław and the author of Trzebnica’s bugle call.

The highest-rated work is a short, 10-bar composition whose main motif is a melody taken from Józef Ignacy Schnabel’s “Transeamus usque Bethlehem”, the most widely disseminated composition in Lower Silesia. Thus, the bugle call directly points to Nowogrodziec’s most distinguished cultural legacy – its connection with a composer valued and recognized throughout Europe.

In addition to promoting the town, the bugle call will become a permanent part of the annual International Music Festival “Muzyka u J.I. Schnabla” as a regular element of the ceremonial opening of each subsequent edition of Nowogrodziec’s musical celebration.
