After our Friday report about dirty county roads, we received several phone calls from the County Office. The callers were County Head Dariusz Kwaśniewski, Deputy County Head Stanisław Chwojnicki and spokesperson Katarzyna Biegasiewicz-Mularczk. At the end of the day, we received a statement. It took officials about two hours to write it. In the letter, the County Office admits that some streets have not been cleaned, but immediately points out that there is also sand on city streets.
It is a fact that not all county streets have yet been tidied up after winter (swept). This is not possible in such a short time because the winter season ends on March 31 and we have 300 km of county roads. What is more, many streets in Bolesławiec have already been swept, including Śluzowa, Lubańska, Zwycięstwa, Aleja Wojska Polskiego, Tyrankiewiczów, Żwirki i Wigury and Karola Miarki.
We do not express an opinion on the schedule for cleaning city streets by municipal services. That is not our concern. […] As evidence, let there be the photographs taken today (after 4 p.m.) of three streets: Ceramiczna, Willowa and Plac Piastowski (I should add that there are more uncleaned streets). It can be seen that they have not yet been cleaned.
We did the math. In an hour, a street sweeper can sweep 10 to 15 km of road. Instead of writing a statement, the officials could have spent that time fixing the problem. Properly sweeping Staroszkolna Street, which we showed on Friday, would take no more than 20 minutes. Unfortunately, we have another document produced by County Office officials, while the dirt on the roads remains exactly as it was.
Will County Head Kwaśniewski and Deputy County Head Chwojnicki write another letter today, or will they finally get to cleaning? Or perhaps they simply cannot see the dirt? That may be the case; it is enough to look at what the surroundings of both politicians’ workplace look like.
Below are photographs of the streets, including those that, according to the County Office, are clean, as well as the seat of the county authorities.
