The “Zielona Akcja” Ecological Foundation has begun implementing the project entitled “For the Kwisa, for Nature – preparation of small-scale tourism infrastructure to protect the Kwisa River from excessive tourist pressure.” Its aim is to direct tourist traffic in the Lower Kwisa Valley. In practice, this means creating tourism infrastructure that will not threaten the natural environment of the Natura 2000 “Lower Kwisa Valley” area.
As part of the project, three Tourist Rest Areas (MPTs), a camping area, two river access points for people starting water trips, two nature trails, and a tower and footbridge for observing the nature of the Lower Kwisa Valley will be created. The planned tourism infrastructure is intended to facilitate kayaking on the Kwisa (along the section from Nowogrodziec to the mouth of the Bóbr in Lubusz Voivodeship) and enable visitors to learn about the natural assets of this section of the river.
Information and educational materials will also be prepared for the nature and landscape trail in the park in Kliczków. New “Explorers’ Expeditions” questing routes will also be created. These will be educational trails along the kayaking route, providing innovative and active information and education about the natural assets of the Lower Kwisa Valley and the municipalities located within its boundaries.
The project partners are: Osiecznica Municipality, Żagań Municipality, Nowogrodziec Municipality, Świętoszów Forest District, Węgliniec Forest District, Bolesławiec Forest District, Kliczków Castle, the “Bory Dolnośląskie” Local Action Group, and Pont-Car – Whitewater Rafting.
The project is financed by the funds of the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme 2007–2013 and the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
