The “Festival on Four Wheels” competition was held on April 1 at the School Workshops of the Zespół Szkół Mechanicznych. The event was organized by Powiat Bolesławiecki, the Guild of Various Crafts and Small Entrepreneurship, and ZSM. Twelve two-person teams from Bolesławiec, Lwówek Śląski, Gryfów, Lubań and Kamienna Góra took part.
The first to speak was Adam Maksymczyk, the director of the “mechanical school,” who emphasized that the competition questions had been prepared by professionals: teachers and craftspeople. – This is already the fourth festival of professions. Previously, we organized festivals of hairstyles and flavors, as well as the “Brick by Brick Success” construction competition. And since my first qualification was as an automotive technician, this year’s festival is especially close to my heart – said Bolesławiec County Head Dariusz Kwaśniewski.
– The idea for the first competition of this kind came to me when I was at a hair salon. I thought then that it was high time to start appreciating professionals in every field – added Alicja Krzyszczak, head of the Education, Culture, Physical Culture and Sport Department of the County Office.
The competition was aimed at students of basic vocational schools. – I have always wanted strong vocational schools and technical schools to operate in our county, so that young people could have a trade in hand – Dariusz Kwaśniewski told us during last year’s festival. – We are not doing this for show or for PR. Our county has an excellent network of vocational schools, which is why we encourage students to study at our vocational and technical schools.
The winners of the Festival on Four Wheels will be announced at a gala held on April 11 at the Old Theatre in Bolesławiec.
