Students from Bolesławiec proved to be well versed in matters concerning the European Union and its institutions. Young people from our city took part in a competition organised by the European Youth Forum, which was held in early November in Bystrzyca Kłodzka.
More than 70 students from lower- and upper-secondary schools across the entire voivodeship entered the competition. They had to complete a two-stage contest consisting of written and oral sections. “The questions required both book knowledge and broad reading, as well as an understanding of current events,” says historian Edward Florków, supervisor of the group of students from I LO in Bolesławiec, who finished among the top ten.
After several exhausting hours of competition, the high school students from Bolesławiec achieved a crushing victory. First place went to Ewelina Pawlus from I LO, Agata Jakubiec took seventh place, and Krzysztof Stankiewicz came tenth, also representing I LO. Joanna Latawiec from II LO left Bystrzyca with second place. In spring, the winners, Ewelina and Joanna, will be rewarded with a trip to Strasbourg organised by Members of the European Parliament. They will be accompanied by their supervisors: Edward Florków from I LO and Mieczysław Szwed, a history teacher from II Liceum.
