The 4th Regional Talent Gala, held under the patronage of the Lower Silesian Education Authority in Wrocław, has come to an end. The event took place on Friday, March 21, in the sports hall of the Municipal School Complex No. 2 in Bolesławiec. Nearly 30 performers from more than 20 schools appeared on stage. The audience could hear, among other things, songs from the repertoires of Majka Jeżowska, Czesław Niemen, Maryla Rodowicz and Leonard Cohen, as well as see an excerpt from a performance by students from Primary School No. 1 in Piechowice. There were also performances by dance groups.
The gala was opened by Marek Sieczka, a senior inspector of the Education Authority. “In accordance with the saying that talent is a gift for which everyone is responsible, although it is received by only one individual, we adults—parents, teachers and head teachers—are responsible for recognizing and discovering talents in our communities. Today’s gala is an opportunity to promote the interests, passions and abilities of young people,” he noted.
“We try to ensure that the gala takes place in different locations across our province each year,” Matek Sieczka said in an interview with ‘ii’. “The choice fell on the Municipal School Complex No. 2 in Bolesławiec because of the facilities made available to us,” he added. “It is good promotion both for the school and for our city,” emphasized Waldemar Bugaj, head of MZS No. 2.
Five winners will take part in the final gala, which will take place in June in Polanica-Zdrój (their names are to be announced on the Education Authority’s website). “I rate the participants’ level very highly,” says Katarzyna Syguła-Wieczorek, co-coordinator of the project (together with Agnieszka Kaźmierczak), a teacher at MZS No. 2 and supervisor of the Creative Expression Studio. “The jurors will have a difficult task. In accordance with the rules, there were no age categories here. It is difficult to compare the voice of an almost adult woman with a child’s singing. To me, all the participants are winners. I think it is worth looking at this competition not in terms of rivalry, but through the prism of how wonderful and talented our young people are.”
The gala was also organized with the involvement of Iwona Majewska and Dorota Jandulska (stage design), as well as Angelika Kraśnicka (supervisor of the student council). Students from the Creative Expression Studio served as presenters.
