The Municipal Public Library in Bolesławiec invites you—in the name of the Catholic Cultural Centre in Kraków and on its own behalf—to an exceptional photography exhibition entitled “John Paul II, Apostle of Peace”.

The exhibition features unique photographs of Pope John Paul II taken by the papal photographer Arturo Mari and Korean photographer Baik Nam Sik. The exhibition also includes images presenting the architecture of Rome and the Vatican, as well as photographs from the Holy Father’s funeral.

Photo author: UM Bolesławiec

Admission is free. The exhibition can be viewed until 5 April at Galeria Format, in the library building at 8 Sądowa Street (first floor).

Arturo Mari comes from a family of photographers that has been associated with the Vatican for several generations. He continues the tradition of his grandfather and father as the official personal photographer of the popes. He accompanied Karol Wojtyła for 26 years. He is the author of approximately one million photographs of Him.

Baik Nam Sik is an outstanding Korean photographer. He travelled around the world several times with the Polish pope. “I had the special honour and grace of meeting John Paul II many times during the twenty years I spent photographing the Pope,” says Baik Nam Sik. “When I recall those unforgettable moments, I hear His warm voice: ‘Praised be Jesus Christ,’ and see His warm smile.
