Among those who travelled to the Parliament were winners of a competition announced by the MEP and a regional newspaper.

For the sixth time, residents of Lower Silesia took part in a visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, at the invitation of Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg, a Polish Member of the European Parliament. Among the 40-member group were, among others, the winners of the “Constitution for Europe” competition: Paweł Ruszkiewicz from Bolesławiec, a student at Gimnazjum Samorządowe nr 2, and Jarosław Siergiej from Lubań. Also present was Radosław Skrzydłowski from Lwówek Śląski, the winner of a competition published in “Gazeta Wojewódzka”. The group from Bolesławiec also included Daniel Biernat, the MEP’s assistant, and Maciej Gorczyca, a member of the Federation of Young Social Democrats.

The participants spent three days in Strasbourg, visiting, among other places, the seat of the European Parliament. They met with MEP Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg and members of the Polish delegation—Bogusław Liberadzki and Adam Gierek—who spoke about the work and role of the European Parliament.

This year, more than 250 residents of Lower Silesia, mostly young people, have already visited the European Parliament. Another group from the region is leaving in November.
