On Monday, 7 September, a van caught fire on the A4 motorway at kilometre 42. The incident took place on the section between the Godzieszów and Bolesławiec junctions, past the exit to Łąka.
As we have established, the driver managed to leave the vehicle. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
The fire was not limited to the van itself. It spread to the motorway roadside and covered approximately 10 ares of land. Firefighters managed to stop it before it reached the nearby forest.
The vehicle and roadside are now being fully extinguished. Further fire service units are gradually leaving the scene.
There are traffic disruptions. The motorway lane toward Germany is blocked on this section of the A4.
Due to the incident, drivers were advised to use a detour. They should exit at the Bolesławiec junction, then follow voivodeship road No. 297 and subsequently national road No. 94d.
The expected time for clearing the disruption was set for 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
Drivers travelling on the A4 toward the border with Germany should exercise caution and pay attention to the current traffic arrangements in the area of the incident.
