The results of the first stage of the “Technical School Graduate 2013” competition, organized by the Association of Polish Mechanical Engineers and Technicians, were announced on October 22 at the Legnica branch teaching center of Wrocław University of Technology. The competition was won by Grzegorz Słota, a graduate of the Mechanical School Complex in Bolesławiec and currently a student at Wrocław University of Technology. The perpetual trophy went to Adam Maksymczyk, the director of the “Mechanics” school.

“Grzegorz Słota’s first prize in the competition for the best Technical School Graduate of 2013 is a great personal achievement for him. It also confirms that our efforts and such strong support for vocational education make sense. For years, we have kept repeating: graduate from a good vocational school, acquire a trade sought by employers, and you will enter adulthood more easily and successfully,” says Dariusz Kwaśniewski, a member of the Bolesławiec County Board.

He adds: “It was for Grzegorz and hundreds of graduates of technical schools and vocational classes that we established Vocational Education Centers in our county. With funding from the European Union, we obtained many millions to purchase the most modern equipment, machinery and machine tools. They are to learn their trades using this equipment. Grzegorz and his classmates perform excellently in their school-leaving and vocational examinations. We help them by funding, once again with EU money, thousands of additional lessons in vocational subjects, as well as mathematics, English and physics. I am truly pleased that teachers are able to use the additional tools we provide them so effectively, and that students are achieving success.
