We wrote about the matter at the end of August this year. The transport hub was discussed during a City Council session. “This hub must be built,” said Mayor Piotr Roman. “For two reasons. First, the County authorities allowed their company to sell the PKS bus station [pisaliśmy o tym w materiale PKS chce sprzedać dworzec – przyp. „ii”]. If it is sold, it will be the end of hopes that carriers other than PKS will stop there. The second reason is the European Union’s new funding perspective, which states that transport hubs—as places where all forms of public transport meet—will have an excellent chance of receiving funding.

As the mayor emphasized, conceptual work is under way. “The creation of a transport hub could finally lead to the redevelopment of the PKP railway station, and students commuting to school would no longer have to wade through mud on Zgorzelecka or at that socialist-realist, yet still reasonably good, PKS station,” Piotr Roman added. “The entire burden of transport will shift to the area around the railway station. That is how it should be.

In September, the Bolesławiec City Hall acquired from Telekomunikacja Polska S.A. the right of perpetual usufruct of a plot located near the PKP railway station. Under a mayoral order, the property will be administered by the Municipal Housing Management Facility, whose task is to “maintain the proper technical condition of the buildings located on plot no. 2”.
