For the first few minutes, both teams played cautiously. Most of the action took place in the middle of the pitch. In the 8th minute, the first dangerous attack was launched by the Bolesławiec side. Paweł Rissmann had a chance to score, but his shot was too weak to surprise the visiting goalkeeper. In the 12th minute, the Górnik goalkeeper could no longer prevent his team from conceding. BKS put together a team move. After Adrian Popek’s cross, the ball eventually reached Robert Nitarski, who beat the Górnik goalkeeper with a powerful shot. The visitors responded three minutes later. BKS goalkeeper Marek Przykłota made a good intervention, catching a ball struck by a Górnik player directly after a corner.
The second goal for the Bolesławiec team came in the 17th minute. It resulted from a combination between Tomasz Jasiński and Paweł Rissmann. The former dribbled past several Górnik players and crossed from the left side of the pitch toward the penalty area. The ball reached Paweł Rissmann, who headed it home to make it 2–0 to BKS. Seeking a goal to get back into the match, the Górnik players began attacking more boldly. Their efforts paid off in the 21st minute, when Tomasz Urbański took advantage of a scramble in front of goal. His shot into the right corner of the BKS goal was virtually unstoppable.
The Bolesławiec side had scoring opportunities in the 29th and 30th minutes. First, Grzegorz Nowak missed, and then the visiting goalkeeper managed to turn Paweł Rissmann’s header behind for a corner. The visitors also continued attacking. In the 40th minute, Marek Przykłota saved a shot from Dariusz Wojtachno, who had targeted the Bolesławiec goal. Toward the end of the first half, BKS’s advantage was already very clear. Robert Nitarski, Adrian Popek and Radosław Pietkiewicz finished off good moves by our team with accurate shots. The latter scored our team’s third goal in the final minute of the first half.
In the second half, the Bolesławiec team attacked even more boldly. Adrian Popek shot wide in the 46th minute. Five minutes later, BKS scored a fourth goal. Grzegorz Nowak started the move, dribbling past several players before playing the ball from the left to Radek Pietkiewicz. He beat the goalkeeper with a header. Before entering the net, the ball also struck the right post. From that point on, the match became one-way traffic. In the 65th minute, Adrian Popek scored another goal for our team. The BKS player successfully converted an indirect free kick, shooting into the right corner and giving the Górnik goalkeeper no chance. The visitors seriously threatened the BKS goal again in the 71st minute, but Marek Przykłota intervened effectively once more. A minute later, the seventh and final goal of the match was scored. Robert Kumoś netted BKS’s sixth goal. He capitalised on an error by the visiting defender and goalkeeper, placing the ball into the net with a gentle shot along the ground. There were no more goals, although the Bolesławiec side had further chances through Paweł Demczar, Łukasz Rudyk and Mateusz Mucha. BKS Bolesławiec ultimately defeated Górnik Złotoryja 6–1.
Those attending Saturday’s match witnessed not only the football but also a supporters’ protest. For some time, supporters from the Bolesławiec Supporters’ Club have not been allowed free entry to matches in Bolesławiec. They were also denied entry to the stadium on Saturday. Therefore, throughout the first half, a banner reading “BKS where are your supporters?” was displayed in front of one of the empty sections. In the second half, the supporters appeared in their section and displayed another banner: “Despite the obstacles put in our way by the board, we will be with you through good times and bad!” Despite the protest, the supporters cheered BKS throughout the entire second half.
Coaches’ comments
Mirosław Zieleń, Górnik Złotoryja coach: “We played particularly poorly at the back. On the one hand, the absence of our key defender Grubczyński is not an excuse, but on the other hand, we conceded all the goals after individual errors. It seems to me that the key moment in this lost match was the third goal, which we conceded practically as we were heading into the dressing room.”
Marcin Ciliński, BKS Bolesławiec coach: “I’m pleased with the victory, although I’m still hurting over the match in Nowogrodziec. It was supposed to look like it did here today. We managed to bounce back today, and the match remained competitive until the score reached 3–1. If we had managed to score 3–0 earlier, the match would already have been over then.”
