The event will begin on Friday, September 20, at 12:00 noon. The largest symbol of the harvest celebration—a harvest wreath—will be presented. The presentation will be prepared by Anetta Kamińska. She is also the co-creator of the wreath that won last year’s competition for the President of the Republic of Poland’s award.
The lecture will present the symbolism of the wreath, various methods of shaping it, and the secrets of selecting grains, flowers and other decorations. The lecture will be accompanied by a demonstration of this year’s harvest wreath from Kraśnik Dolny. After the lecture, folk groups from Poland and the Czech Republic will appear on the garden stage.
In the dance and music performance, young dancers will present dances and rituals traditionally associated with harvest time in the Polish-Czech borderland. The activities will be accompanied by a presentation of the photographic exhibition “Harvest Traditions of Poland and the Czech Republic” in the museum garden.
The “Harvest Festival 2013” event is one of the elements of the project “Gardens of Living Tradition—Protection of the Common Heritage of the Polish-Czech Borderland,” co-financed by the European Union from the resources of the European Regional Development Fund under the Czech Republic–Republic of Poland 2007–2013 Operational Programme of Cross-Border Cooperation.
