In March this year, we wrote that Przemysław Pawłowski of class I c took third place in the provincial stage of the Solidarity Olympiad, organized by the Solidarity Center Foundation and the Prof. Bronisław Geremek Center Foundation. Przemysław qualified for the national stage, where he placed fourth.
– He is a Renaissance man. He is very well-read and has an enormous amount of knowledge – Anna Lisiak, a history teacher, told us in March. It is worth adding that the history olympiad laureate attends a... biology and chemistry class and sees his future in biology or biotechnology.
Martyna Stasiak of class I b won the main prize in the “Poland’s Role in Shaping the History of Europe” competition, organized by Member of Parliament Adam Lipiński and Member of the European Parliament Ryszard Legutko. As her prize, the winner will travel to the European Parliament. – I have already had the opportunity to participate in a session of the Sejm of Children and Youth, during which I could feel like a real member of parliament. I think that the trip to Brussels will be an equally interesting experience – says the secondary-school student. – Martyna is a very good student with knowledge extending beyond the curriculum. She succeeded in this competition and I am proud of her – adds history teacher Barbara Sykulska.
We have written more than once in our pages that II LO lives and pulses with mathematics. Here is further proof. Jędrzej Janczewski (II a) won this year’s edition of the Lower Silesian Pre-Matura Competition (in the group of second-year students, advanced level), while Rafał Ryżewski, now already a graduate of the “second” school, took third place in his category.
Interestingly, the competition was held... online. – It tested not only mathematical knowledge but also computer skills. The solutions had to be scanned and sent to the committee within a very short time – explains Dorota Kurowska, a mathematics teacher.
In addition, students of II General Secondary School once again took part in the Polish Mathematical Championships. – This is a wonderful initiative of the educational and publishing company Elitmat, which promotes mathematical thinking and mathematics as a discipline that develops the intellect – says teacher Edyta Gawlik-Lippik.
Karolina Błotna (II d) took first place in the county and in the province, as well as fifty-seventh place in Poland. Rafał Skrzypek (I d) came first in the county and in Lower Silesia, and eighteenth nationally. Marcin Karasiewicz (I d), meanwhile, came second in the county, third in the province and fifty-sixth in Poland. Jędrzej Janczewski placed second in the county and in Lower Silesia, while in the national standings he was seventy-fourth.
Karolina, Rafał and Marcin are students of Edyta Gawlik-Lippik, while Jędrzej is a student of Dorota Kurowska. As the school’s principal, Mirosław Sakowski, emphasized, Przemysław and Jędrzej are candidates for a Parents’ Council scholarship, which II LO will award from the new school year.
