On Sunday (May 26), league leaders BKS Bobrzanie hosted second-placed Włókniarz Mirsk. The match lived up to expectations in terms of the quality of play, although after the referee’s final whistle, both players and fans of the two teams may have felt some disappointment. The hosts started the match very well. In the 7th minute, the Bolesławiec side took the lead. Paweł Glanc’s precise pass was used by Marcin Kraśnicki, who rounded the goalkeeper and sent the ball into the net. A moment later, Kamil Mielnik shot at the visitors’ goal, but the ball went wide of the post. In the 16th minute, the visitors responded. BKS was kept from conceding by saves from Manuel Kowalski and Józek Pietrzak, who cleared the ball off the goal line after Bartłomiej Morzecki’s shot.
In the 33rd minute, Krzysztof Janicki showed similar reflexes, also clearing a ball heading toward the BKS goal. The Bolesławiec side did not have to wait long to respond. In the 36th minute, Emmanuel Ohagwu fired dangerously, but the ball narrowly missed the junction of the post and crossbar. Just before half-time, Jacek Bochnia shot at Włókniarz’s goal, but that effort was also off target. BKS had more possession in the first half. The hosts also created more scoring opportunities, but converted only one of them. The fans also watched an entertaining spectacle after the break. Both teams played open, fast-paced football. In the 75th minute, Marcin Kraśnicki had an excellent chance to extend the lead. His shot hit the post, however, and Zbigniew Mastalerz’s follow-up ended up in the side netting.
The missed opportunity came back to haunt them in the 79th minute. Following a cross, Adam Kowalski headed the ball into the BKS net. The shot was not powerful, but it was precise enough, close to the post, that the goalkeeper had little chance. Both teams still had opportunities late in the match, including a BKS goal disallowed for offside, but the score did not change. The fans watched an entertaining game. The quality of the match showed that both teams occupy their positions in the table for good reason. For BKS, Eryk Kliwak had a less successful game, giving the ball away several times. Radek Powroźnik, who is returning after a longer break, also did not play at his usual level. The rest of the team put in a good performance. BKS Bobrzanie – Włókniarz Mirsk 1–1 (1–0).
