Residents of Bolesławiec witnessed strongmen’s contests for the second time. The first tournament was held in May, when teams competed. On Sunday, during the Ceramics Festival, the competitors faced one another individually. The first event was the farmer’s walk. Over a distance of 15 metres, each competitor had to carry two suitcases weighing 50 kg. Then the strongmen threw bags weighing between 50 and 70 kg onto a ramp. The qualifying round ended with the “weight of tears” event.
In the semifinals, the competitors pulled a one-and-a-half-tonne car and pressed a 50-kilogram log. In the final, they flipped an 80-kilogram tyre and walked with a 120-kilogram frame-shaped structure. The finals ended with an event called the clock. The competitors complained about the heat and sand, which made the events more difficult. Zbigniew Klimek won, wearing a Boleslawiec.org shirt. He received a home theatre system as a prize. Przemysław Kulczycki came second.
Preparations for the tournament lasted three months. The event was organised by the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre.
