On the Bolec.Info portal, Kazimierz Marczewski identified another illegal rubbish dump in Nowogrodziec municipality. He wrote that the plot was located in Zabłocie. In these journalistic “rubbish dumps of nonsense,” Marczewski portrayed Nowogrodziec’s authorities and residents negatively. He accused the latter of “dirtying their own nest,” and Mayor Relich of being unable to do anything himself.
Little by little, Bolec.Info’s campaign is producing results; we are identifying more illegal rubbish dumps and so on. On 25 April 2013, we located another, probably the largest, illegal rubbish dump in Nowogrodziec municipality. It is located in the village of Zabłocie. What we saw and documented in photographs exceeded our wildest expectations.
[...]Why are the residents of Zabłocie, in Nowogrodziec municipality, so indifferent to this matter and, if you’ll excuse the expression, “dirtying their own nest” themselves while tolerating this state of affairs? Although the Mayor and the Municipal and Town Council are responsible for everything that happens in Nowogrodziec municipality, are they really unable to do anything on their own without the residents’ help?
The illegal dump is, however, located in Bolesławiec municipality, in Brzeźnik. When the mayor caught the portal’s journalist providing false information, Marczewski shifted all the blame onto district office employees.
On 26 April 2013, in the article “A Littered Municipality,” we presented an exceptionally littered plot. In that text, based on information from employees of Bolesławiec District Office, we incorrectly stated that the plot in question was located in Zabłocie
Asked for comment, Robert Relich said he was sorry that Kazimierz Marczewski was portraying the municipality in such a bad light. He believes the action was deliberate. Some time ago, both men ran in the election for the office of mayor of Nowogrodziec.
“The series of articles being published about dumps in our municipality is written without contacting the municipal office,” says Robert Relich. “We learned everything from an article that had already been published. I had no opportunity to verify the false information. Once, editor Marczewski found a dump located on private land, but he blamed us for that too,” the mayor adds.
After the latest article, Robert Relich checked where the dump was located. He determined its location on behalf of the journalist and contacted village head Andrzej Dutkowski, informing him that an illegal dump was located in his area.
“I asked the head of the rural municipality to deal with the matter, and I sent Bolec.Info’s editorial office a demand for a correction of the false information. As for us, we try to find and remove illegal dumps. This is our municipality, and I am not indifferent to its image. I am simply sorry, because this affects me, the councillors, the village heads and the municipality’s residents,” the mayor adds.
Asked whom Marczewski had contacted regarding the dump’s location, the district office spokesperson replied that she did not know and that he had certainly not discussed it with her. No one from Bolec.Info had officially asked the Geodesy and Cadastre Department about locating the dump either.
We wanted to ask Kazimierz Marczewski for comment himself. He initially answered the phone but could not talk and promised to call back. He neither called back nor answered our subsequent calls.
Bolec.Info likes asking rhetorical questions, so we will ask a few as well.
Is Kazimierz Marczewski using Bolec.Info to fight his rival in the election for mayor of Nowogrodziec? Is he really not cooperating with the district authorities in this bizarre “clean Nowogrodziec municipality” mission? Or does Marczewski want to set Robert Relich against district governor Cezary Przybylski?
Those are our questions. There may also be a simple explanation: that this is merely another piece of rubbish news produced by Bolec.Info’s “professional team of journalists.”
