Municipal Public Kindergarten No. 3 is implementing a project aimed at expanding cooperation, developing a future partnership between the Polish and Czech institutions, and exchanging experiences in working with preschool-aged children within the education and upbringing systems among teachers.

Children from the two towns will visit one another and discover new things. The children will visit Doksy and Bolesławiec, learning about the symbols and history of the towns. The Polish children will also teach their Czech peers how to make things from clay and explore holiday traditions together.

The Czech children came to Bolesławiec for the project’s inauguration. The Bolesławiec kindergarten children invited their guests to play “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” together. In this cheerful way, the children learned the names of body parts in Polish and Czech from one another. The simple game showed that there are few differences between the children, even linguistic ones, because in Czech the words sounded like “glawa,” “ramena,” “kolena,” and “pety.”

Deputy Mayor Kornel Filipowicz, who was present at the inauguration at the kindergarten, warmly welcomed the children from both towns. “Today, you are the most important,” he told the children. “But I am also pleased and thank your kindergarten’s director and the teachers for trusting us and joining this project.”

After the inauguration, the children took part in ceramic workshops at BOK-MCC in Bolesławiec and explored what could be made from Bolesławiec clay. They also visited the Ceramic Museum, where they viewed a ceramics exhibition accompanied by a film presentation. After lunch, they took part in integration games with a clown.

The Czech kindergarten in Doksy is headed by director Ivana Moudrà. She came to Bolesławiec with the children in her care. She was pleased about the joint implementation of the project and watched the Polish children’s performances with interest. She also shared information about her well-equipped institution.

The Czech kindergarten has four groups of 28 children each and two groups equivalent to Poland’s preparatory classes, with 35 pupils each. The children can use a small bicycle town and a covered, sizeable paddling pool used for water play in summer. In winter, the children also have a hill specially prepared for sledding.

The “Cross-Border Young Researchers” project will run throughout 2013. It is co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund and by state budget funds via the Nysa Euroregion.
