The official presentation of the parliamentary candidate took place last week at the Bolesławiec headquarters of the Democratic Party. “We have a good program and good people, and we want to convince voters of this,” parliamentary candidate Jan Cołokidzi said at the beginning of the conference. The Democratic Party has as many as 20 parliamentary candidates in the Jelenia Góra–Legnica constituency, including 4 women. Most of them have experience working in local government. The candidate from Bolesławiec also has such experience, as he is the chairman of the County Council.

Jan Cołokidzi’s idea is to put to use the full economic potential of the former and current area of the Copper Basin. “For this to become possible, it is necessary to create a kind of conurbation,” Jan Cołokidzi said. This conurbation would bring together Bolesławiec, Głogów, Polkowice, Lubin and Legnica counties. This would create an area highly attractive to investors. More than half a million people live in this area, making it a competitor even to investment-friendly Wrocław. For Bolesławiec, an advantage is the motorway being built in its vicinity. Jan Cołokidzi believes that we have a chance for economic development and, consequently, to improve the quality of life of residents throughout the county. To achieve this, road connections need to be improved, including the route linking Bolesławiec with Polkowice. According to the parliamentary candidate, European Union funding should also be used wisely and land prepared for future investors.

Jan Cołokidzi was born 50 years ago in Kazakhstan, into a Polish-Greek family of deportees. He graduated in political science from the University of Wrocław and completed postgraduate studies in economics and management. He is married and has two sons. He currently works as the manager of the Orlen fuel depot in Bolesławiec. He is third on the list in the Legnica–Jelenia Góra constituency.
