At the end of March this year, the District Court in Jelenia Góra issued a judgment in the case of two former employees of the District Education Centre in Lubań. The facility’s former accountant, Agata D., was sentenced to 3 years in prison. She must also compensate the Lubań PCE for the damage caused (approximately PLN 472,000, of which approximately PLN 80,000 jointly with the other defendant). Moreover, the court imposed on D. a 4-year ban on practising as an accountant and conducting business activity related to this type of service.

The second defendant, Ryszarda M., was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months’ imprisonment suspended for 3 years, a PLN 1,000 fine and a 3-year ban on practising her profession.

On 29 March, the Jelenia Góra court found 62-year-old Wałbrzych resident Lech R. guilty of obtaining six specialist sewing machines using forged documents (the man was sentenced to 3 years in prison; the judgment is not final).

On 3 April, the Bolesławiec District Court found 41-year-old Stanisław P. guilty of committing a total of 58 offences. P. was sentenced to 6 years’ imprisonment and a total fine of PLN 17,500. He must also compensate the victims for losses amounting to more than PLN 415,000, jointly with the people who have already been convicted in this case.

P. carried out his criminal activity from February 2001 to January 2006 in Bolesławiec, Lwówek Śląski, Jelenia Góra and other locations in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. He registered vehicles using forged documents, obtained loans through fraud, reported fictitious car thefts, and also incited people to give false testimony and issue fictitious invoices. The judgment is not final.
