The 2012/2013 Lower Silesian Lower Secondary School Competition for the Wrocław Mayor’s Cup was entered by 7,800 students. Liga Naukowa consists of two competitions: humanities (partly in a foreign language) and mathematics. In the former, held partly in English, the team from I Private Lower Secondary School in Bolesławiec took 7th place.
The organizers of Liga are: the Lower Silesian Board of Education, the Lower Silesian Association for the Gifted, and Secondary School No. XIV named after Polonia Belgijska in Wrocław.
The team consisted of second- and third-year students: Magdalena Janczak (who individually earned the title of Liga Naukowa finalist), Monika Marusiak, Julia Jancelewicz and Łukasz Marszałek.
All four demonstrate talents not only in the humanities, achieving many successes in mathematics, natural sciences and other competitions:
- Magdalena Janczak – first-place winner in the Regional Knowledge of the Bioregion and Nature Conservation Competitions, as well as in the District Competition “In the Circle of Literary Motifs – Biblical Parables”
- Monika Marusiak – first-place winner in the Knowledge of the Bioregion Competition and the District Mathematics Competition, and third-place winner in the District Physics Competition
- Julia Jancelewicz – first-place winner in the nationwide poetry competition “Autumn Gardens” and winner of the District Polish Language Competition “In the Circle of Literary Motifs – Biblical Parables”
- Łukasz Marszałek – second-place winner in the District Competition “Safe Internet 2013”.
