Mayor’s letter
Dear Sir or Madam,
On January 1, 2012, the new Act on Maintaining Cleanliness and Order in Municipalities entered into force. Its provisions bring Polish regulations into line with the highest environmental standards in force in the countries of the European Union.
The change in regulations means that as of July 1, 2013, the Municipality of Bolesławiec will take over management of waste disposal.
The new system will cover all city residents (inhabited and uninhabited properties), including those who have not previously had contracts or have terminated such contracts. Thanks to these changes, less waste will end up in illegal dumps. I also hope that more waste will be sorted, in accordance with the principle: “the more you sort, the less you pay.”
The municipality will select just one company through a tender to collect municipal waste. In return for the fee paid by the property owner for municipal waste management, both sorted and unsorted municipal waste will be collected in any quantity.
A free helpline will be launched for residents and all interested parties.
You can obtain all information about changes to the waste management system in our city by calling: 75 644 09 23 or 723 353 322.
Yours sincerely,
Mayor of Bolesławiec
/-/ Piotr Roman
Additional information
All information about changes to the waste management system in Bolesławiec can be obtained from the Waste Management Department, located at the Municipal Housing Management Facility at 23 Dolne Młyny Street, room 1.
For inhabited properties (single-family homes, residential units)
The monthly waste management fee charged to property owners per person residing on the property is:
- PLN 15 – if waste is not collected and picked up separately,
- PLN 11 – if waste is collected and picked up separately.
For example, if 2 people live on a property and sort their waste, the monthly fee is PLN 22 (2 people x PLN 11 = PLN 22).
For uninhabited properties where waste is generated (i.e. companies, schools, preschools, hospitals, guesthouses, cinemas, etc.)
To calculate the fee for collecting municipal waste from uninhabited properties, calculate the minimum total capacity of the containers and determine the number of containers corresponding to it, then multiply the number of containers by the fee for a container of the appropriate capacity.
The minimum total container capacity is calculated as follows:
- for a property where work is performed – at least 15 litres for each employee, plus in the case of:
- schools of all types, preschools and nurseries – at least 5 litres for each pupil, student or child,
- a food-service premises or garden – at least 20 litres for each seating place,
- hospitals, boarding schools, hotels, guesthouses, etc. – at least 15 litres per bed,
- cinemas, theatres and auditoriums – at least 5 litres per audience seat,
- cemeteries – at least 2 litres per burial place.
- allotment gardens – at least 10 litres for each allotment,
- a complex of detached garages – at least 10 litres for each parking space.
If 7 people work at a company and waste is sorted, the minimum container capacity is 105 litres (7 people x 15 litres), corresponding to one 110-litre container. The monthly fee for collecting separately collected municipal waste is PLN 45 per 110-litre container.
The monthly fee per container for owners of properties where no residents live but waste is generated is:
- 110-litre capacity – PLN 61.00,
- 120-litre capacity – PLN 66.00,
- 240-litre capacity – PLN 131.00,
- 1100-litre capacity – PLN 605.00
If municipal waste is collected and picked up separately, a lower fee per container applies:
- 110-litre capacity – PLN 45.00,
- 120-litre capacity – PLN 48.00,
- 240-litre capacity – PLN 96.00,
- 1100-litre capacity – PLN 445.00
