At the beginning of August, the 41st International Ceramic and Sculpture Symposium began. This year, its participants are ceramic artists from Poland and the Eastern Bloc (Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Lithuania, Estonia and Korea). Twenty-three people are working at various ceramic plants in Bolesławiec and the surrounding area.

The results of the artists’ work will not be available to see until December, during the annual post-symposium exhibition. However, it will be possible to meet them earlier, during numerous exhibitions and author meetings, as well as at a happening that the artists will present during Bolesławiec’s Ceramic Festival.

This year, the symposium’s commissioner is visual artist Władysław Garnik, an honorary member of the World Crafts Council. In 2004, the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre received the Lower Silesian Key to Success in the category of “most interesting cultural event or initiative” for organizing the International Ceramic and Sculpture Symposium. This year’s symposium will run until 28 August.
