The accident occurred at around 5:00 a.m. on the road between Brzeźnik and Parzyce. A tanker truck carrying chemicals and traveling toward Bolesławiec ended up in a ditch. Two drunk Ukrainians were traveling in it, and neither admits to driving the vehicle.
Immediately after the accident, traffic on the road was halted. Firefighters called in a chemical specialist from Legnica to determine what substance was in the tanker. Fortunately, the chemicals were not highly dangerous. After they were pumped out of the tank, a crane was called to the scene and pulled the tanker out of the ditch. Fifteen firefighters took part in the operation.
The police detained the Ukrainians. Both men are sobering up and will be questioned on Monday. Traffic on the road from Bolesławiec to Parzyce was halted for more than half a day. Drivers had to use detours.
