Saturday’s concert was held as part of the 47th International Wratislavia Cantans Festival. For eleven years, musicians from the Wrocław festival have been invited to Bolesławiec. Yesterday, the people of Bolesławiec heard an excellent performance of Vivaldi’s and Piazzolla’s “Four Seasons.”
The Leopoldinum Chamber Orchestra was conducted by Chrystian Danowicz; Aleksandra Rupocińska played the harpsichord, and one of the violinists was Bolesławiec native Aleksandra Pawłowska.
The concert was preceded by a short address from the city secretary. “Concerts by the Wrocław festival are organized in twelve cities of Lower Silesia,” said Jerzy Zieliński. “This is the eleventh time that our city has hosted the festival’s musicians, and we can confidently say that this is our Boleslavia Cantans Festival.”
Jerzy Zieliński also introduced the virtuoso and head of the Leopoldinum Chamber Orchestra. “Chrystian Danowicz was born in Argentina, Piazzolla’s homeland,” Zieliński said. “As an interesting fact, I will add that the musician’s father played in Astor Piazzolla’s orchestra. We will therefore hear an exceptional concert combining Baroque music with Argentine temperament.”
The concert was co-organized by the Bolesławiec Cultural Center–International Ceramics Center and the Municipality of Bolesławiec.
