On Saturday, 18 July, the BKS senior team played their second-round match in the Jelenia Góra district league. Mitex Podgórzyn, a newly promoted team, came to Bolesławiec. In the previous round, the visitors had sensationally defeated Włókniarz Mirsk (3:1). Saturday’s match began with both teams sizing up each other’s abilities. Initially, the visitors showed a greater appetite for the game, and they took the lead in the 24th minute. According to the referee, Michał Błoński fouled a visiting player in the penalty area. The referee’s decision prompted strong protests from BKS players and fans. In their opinion, the BKS player had not broken the rules. The penalty decision was controversial and ended with a goal for the visitors. Mariusz Larysz put his name on the scoresheet. After conceding, BKS sped up their play, but they lacked an effective shot. The visitors, meanwhile, defended effectively, cleared the ball off the field and attempted counterattacks. In the 40th minute, Paweł Glanc struck a fine shot at the Podgórzyn goal, but the crossbar saved the visitors. Towards the end of the first half, Marcin Jankowski also shot at the visitors’ goal, but the ball hit the goalkeeper.
In the second half, BKS’s advantage grew minute by minute. At times, the visitors were pinned in their own half and, although desperately, continued to defend effectively. In the 58th minute, a visiting defender almost put the ball into his own goal. After an unfortunate intervention, the ball struck the post. Despite their advantage, BKS’s play also left much to be desired. There were many inaccurate passes and turnovers. Goalkeeper Manuel Kowalski also made a terrible mistake. Following his pass, the ball went straight to an opponent. Fortunately, the opponent did not take advantage of the “gift”. The situation on the pitch was best summed up by the saying: “When it’s not going your way, it’s really not going your way.” However, there could be no question of a lack of motivation at BKS. It is worth mentioning the attitude of BKS captain – Józef Pietrzak, who additionally encouraged his teammates to play until the very end of the match. “You play until the end” – the old football truth was confirmed 100%. In the 83rd minute, Marcin Jankowski produced a fine bicycle-kick shot. However, the Podgórzyn goalkeeper still managed to save it. In the 87th minute, after Marcin Głowacki’s pass and a shot by Marcin Jankowski, the visiting goalkeeper had to retrieve the ball from the net. In stoppage time (the 93rd minute), BKS scored the winning goal. Michał Błoński threw the ball from a throw-in into the visitors’ penalty area. One of the visiting players flicked the ball on, after which Paweł Glanc reached it and headed home to make the final score 2:1 for BKS. BKS Bobrzanie – Mitex Podgórzyn 2:1 (0:1). In the next round, BKS will face Pogoń Świerzawa away.
