In February this year, we reported that the City Council unanimously adopted a resolution consenting to the sale of the Municipality of Bolesławiec’s shares in the Local Television Station “Azart-Sat”. At the time, Mirosław Sakowski, head of the Civic Platform councillors’ group, spoke. “It is very good that the mayor has finally decided to sell these shares,” he stressed. “It is a pity that it happened so late. Civic Platform councillors submitted such a motion during the previous term. But better late than never,” he added. “The sale is one thing, and the company’s operation is another. Recently, it was impossible for the municipality to sell the shares—for obvious reasons. Now the company’s financial situation has stabilised,” retorted Jarosław Kowalski, chairman of the Forum group.
Councillor Wojciech Kasprzyk also joined the discussion. “This is a very good resolution. Azart-Sat will not be perceived as a monopoly of the city office, and it will be possible to say that it is a professional and independent television station. I think this is a very appropriate decision by the mayor,” he said. “For me, this television station has always been very objective,” summed up Janina Piestrak-Babijczuk, deputy head of the City Council.
In July, mayor Piotr Roman issued an order “on entrusting the duties of carrying out preparatory activities related to the sale of the Municipality of Bolesławiec’s shares in the Local Television Station ‘Azart-Sat’ Sp. z o.o. in Bolesławiec”. The sale of the shares will be handled by Tomasz Gabrysiak, head of the City Development and Promotion Department, and Bogusława Piotrowska, senior specialist in the Municipal Department of Bolesławiec City Office.
The city officials are to select an expert to value the Municipality’s shares in Azart-Sat and prepare an invitation to negotiations concerning the sale of shares in the company.
We will return to this matter.
