The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 10, at 7:00 p.m. at the Museum of Ceramics on Mickiewicza Street. Sławomir Gortych, a student at the I Private Middle School and a member of the Youth City Council, will talk in the first part of the meeting about castles and palaces in Lower Silesia, and will also introduce the history of glass and ceramics manufactories. Among other things, he will propose a trip to the “Julia” glassworks in Piechowice, where visitors can learn about the process of producing beautiful glassware.
In the second part, after a short refreshment break, Sławomir Gortych will discuss historic sacred architecture and explain the origins of relics of old law—penitential crosses, which are frequently found in the area.
The meetings are intended to encourage active leisure, exploring the area and independently searching for traces of history, especially during holiday walks or cycling trips. It is particularly valuable that the lectures are given by young people who understand the needs and interests of their peers. The presentations are nevertheless prepared professionally and based on specialist literature.
