A former student of the Mechanical Schools Complex in Bolesławiec Rafał Berlicki became a laureate of the 2011 Graduate Technician competition, organized by the Association of Polish Mechanical Engineers and Technicians. He took third place, but in fact fell only slightly short of victory. What is more, his laureate’s diploma helped him find a job.
The competition committee considered the average grades from two years of study, as well as the results of the secondary-school leaving examinations and vocational exam (in his final year, the third-place winner had an average of 5.23). “I was Rafał’s homeroom teacher for four years,” says Alicja Rykowska, a teacher at ZSM. “I can speak of him only in superlatives. He is an exceptionally likeable, very friendly and highly talented young man. He will certainly achieve something in life and will do excellently at university.”
Rafał is currently studying mechatronics in Polkowice. He wants to combine an academic career with practical work. “Mechatronics is what I am really interested in,” he emphasizes. “It is a very promising field; mechatronic systems are being used more and more often.”
“I am very pleased that our teachers seek out competitions of this kind,” says Adam Maksymczyk, director of the Mechanical Schools Complex. “The fact that our students take part in them successfully is evidence of the high standard of teaching at our school. What is more, Rafał’s success was also appreciated by his employer. This proves that it is worth studying, because education is a path to a better future,” he adds. “I chose the right secondary school and can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone,” adds the competition laureate.
The Mechanical Schools Complex plans to expand its educational offering to include autotronics, or automotive mechatronics. “We will do this after the new workshop is built, and that is already the responsibility of the County Office,” says Adam Maksymczyk.
