During the next session of the Bolesławiec City Council, which will take place on Wednesday, 1 February, councillors will vote on a draft resolution “on establishing the maximum rates of fees incurred by property owners for the collection of municipal waste, emptying cesspools and transporting liquid waste from properties within the city of Bolesławiec”. If this legislation enters into force, the maximum rates for waste collection will increase by 11%.
The document’s justification states:
As all residents of Bolesławiec have been covered by the system of separate waste collection and collection services, and at the same time have the relevant contracts, the maximum rate resulting from this resolution is: PLN 70/m³ net + VAT [podkreślenie – red.]. The rate previously in force for separately collected waste was PLN 69/m³ gross, i.e. PLN 65.55/m³ net. The change in this rate of approximately 11% results from the increase, effective from 1 January 2012, in the fees for placing municipal waste [...] in a landfill [...], rising fuel and energy prices, and inflation at 4.3%.
The fees for collecting liquid waste, which were set in 2005 at PLN 48.15/m³ net + applicable VAT, will not change.
