Citywide discussions are an initiative of the Social Welfare Centre in Boleslawiec and aim to encourage residents to engage in joint conversation and personal contact. The project is also intended to activate residents at risk of social exclusion.

All residents interested in the subject will be able to take part in the discussions. Below, we present the first topics related to Boleslawiec. You can choose the most interesting one or propose your own topic on the forum (under the information), together with a brief justification.

Citywide discussion topics

“Should a monument commemorating the residents of Bunzlau be erected in Boleslawiec?” – is there a need to highlight the German roots of the city and region, as well as German historic monuments (e.g. the viaduct designed by Prussian architect Fryderyk Engelhardt Gansel, which today is the pride and landmark of the city).

“Does MOPS sponsor alcoholics?” – the topic concerns food vouchers issued by MOPS, which addicted people sell at half price in order to buy alcohol. Should the vouchers be abolished, or should their use be monitored?

“Should the age of people running for city councillor be limited by law?” – during this term, we have the oldest City Council in history; some councillors allegedly fall asleep during committee proceedings. Should people of retirement age stand for election?

“Construction of a waste incinerator in Boleslawiec, in the Staszica housing estate” – will it be a nuisance for residents, is the investment necessary, and how should it be secured so that it does not emit an unpleasant odour?

We invite you to join the discussion and look forward to our readers’ suggestions.
