Przemysław Moszczyński (Ruch Poparcia Palikota) learned by accident that his advertising banner had appeared on a local blog. “I was completely surprised,” he said. “I immediately found the page and, to my astonishment, saw that someone had placed a banner advertising me there.
The banner showed a photograph of the candidate, along with his electoral district and number on the list. Moszczyński had not ordered the advertisement and did not pay for it. The candidate is known, incidentally, for trying to run his campaign without incurring any costs.
The blog that gave Moszczyński this unexpected gift has several bosses. One of them is Bernard Łętowski, who is responsible, among other things, for advertising. The former journalist was once associated with President Józef Burniak, who made him head of the local television station. He lost that position, regarded as political, when Piotr Roman won the election for the first time. In the most recent local elections, Łętowski was campaign chief for mayoral candidate Bogusław Nowak.
Bernard Łętowski did not answer the question of who commissioned the advertisement to be placed on his blog. But the advertisement has disappeared from the site. A banner for another Ruch Poparcia Palikota candidate, Grzegorz Kunecki, is still displayed there, however. Presumably paid for.
Why is Łętowski playing Santa Claus during the autumn election? Perhaps he misses last year’s political surprises, when he encouraged people from Nowak’s campaign staff to present their views online under the amusing nicknames of Paco the dog and Palikot the cat...
Back then, while playing campaign operative, he caused Nowak to disappear from the political scene; today he merely provides readers with harmless entertainment. One might say that at last he has found himself and found a suitable occupation. That is a major change for the better.
