A gala was held at the Old Theatre, during which the honorees and winners of two competitions were presented. The book “The Kingdom of Birds” by Jacek Pakuła also premiered.
Krzysztof Stankiewicz took first place in the “Young Entrepreneur” competition with his “Agrotourism Farm” project. Ewelina Czekaj, with her “Hairdressing and Beauty Salon” project, and Agnieszka Wysocka, with her “Oyster Mushroom Production and Sales” project, shared second place. The team of Agata Jakubiec, Agata Kozioł and Rafał Głuszko took third place with their “Lupus” reading café project.
In the limerick competition organized by Agora Bookshop and the “Bolesławiec Land” association, first place went to Wojciech Grzelak, last year’s winner. Marcin Jaxa-Rożen came second, while Zdzisław Zieliński and Marek Leśniak shared third place.
More than two hundred entries were submitted to the limerick competition. They were sent by 37 people from across Poland. Six authors were from Bolesławiec. The jury consisted of five people: Professor Joanna Papuzińska, Janina Jędrzejewska, Jan Stolarczyk, Dr Michał Rusinek and Bogumił Paszkiewicz.
In addition to the competition results, the program included a performance by young people from the “Creative Expression Workshop” at Municipal Gymnasium No. 1 in Bolesławiec and a presentation of Jacek Pakuła’s volume “The Kingdom of Birds” (a poetic performance by the Tygrys Ogłuszony Domem Theatre).
The evening was enhanced by performances from Agata Marcewicz-Szymańska (soprano), a soloist with the Warsaw Opera and the National Philharmonic, a trio consisting of violin, cello and keyboard—the Karpiński family from Miłków—the “Sweet Quartet” from Szczecin, and Sylwia Stachowska from Gymnasium No. 1 in Bolesławiec, who recited a poem by Karol Wojtyła.
The evening was organized by the Bolesławiec Business Association, Agora Bookshop and the Bolesławiec Land Association. The event was held under the patronage of Jan Cołokidzi, Chair of the District Council. Boleslawiec.org was among the event’s media patrons.
