Last weekend, Bolesławiec became Poland’s true bridge capital. As part of the 20th Bolesławiec Three-Day Sports Bridge Event, the following were held: the Polish Team Championships and a tournament in the Grand Prix Polski Par series. Nearly 400 bridge players took part in the competition.

The gold medal in the Polish Team Championships was won by a team consisting of: Piotr Zatorski and... just 15-year-old Michał Klukowski. Second place went to acclaimed bridge players: Piotr Ilczuk and Jacek Ciechomski. Meanwhile, the Grand Prix Polski Par was won by Aleksander Kud and Stanisław Wawszczyk.

Unfortunately, compared with the decorated competitors, the Bolesławiec players performed rather averagely. A team featuring Dawid Permus reached the team championship semifinals (his partners were: Artur Winkler, Roland Lippik and Zdzisław Patreuha). In the main tournament, the best results were achieved by Antoni Ochot–Andrzej Kaźmierczak (21st place) and Jarosław Molenda–Artur Winkler (26th).

The competition was organized by Bolesławiecki Klub Brydżowy and the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre. All participants received commemorative mugs funded by Fabryka Naczyń Kamionkowych „Manufaktura”. The sponsors of the prizes included Grupa Promost Wrocław, Zakłady Ceramiczne „Bolesławiec”, PZU S.A., Rafał Tomczyk, Budrem s.c., MZGK sp z o.o., Jerzy Zieliński and Stanisław Małkowski. The event received financial support from the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Bolesławiec County and the Municipality of Bolesławiec.
