Officers of the Customs and Tax Service from the Lower Silesian Customs and Tax Office in Wrocław stopped a shipment of 25 tonnes of waste consisting of used clothing on the A4 motorway. The inspection took place in Jędrzychowice, on a section of the motorway near the border with Germany.

As reported by the National Revenue Administration, the truck was transporting waste from Belgium to the Czech Republic. During an inspection of the documents and a search of the trailer, officers detected serious irregularities.

It turned out that the shipment was being carried out without the document required by law, and the transport had not been registered in the SENT system, the Electronic Transport Supervision System.

A representative of the Regional Inspectorate for Environmental Protection was called to the scene. After carrying out the necessary procedures, the WIOŚ deemed the shipment to constitute illegal movement of waste.

As a result, the shipment was returned to the sender. In total, the truck was carrying 25 tonnes of waste consisting of used clothing.

The National Revenue Administration reminds that international transport of waste is subject to strict regulations. Failure to provide the required documentation or to fulfill obligations related to registering the shipment may result in the transport being stopped and the legal consequences provided for by law being applied.
