An investment worth nearly PLN 6.5 million was completed thanks to co-financing from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (KPO), financed by the European Union. The funds obtained made it possible to implement modern solutions that will serve residents and the environment for many years.
The enclosure covered sand traps, open channels, the primary settling tank and the distribution chamber before the biological treatment block. Air from these facilities is directed to a modern central biofilter, which effectively removes odorous substances.
– From the outset, we knew that this investment was primarily intended to serve residents. Enclosing the treatment plant is not only modern technology, but above all a real improvement in the quality of life of people living in its vicinity. Today, we are pleased to say that we have achieved our intended goal and completed all stages of the project according to plan. When residents helped us save the treatment plant from floodwater in 2024, we promised that we would do everything to ensure that the wastewater treatment plant would not be a nuisance to its neighbours. We are glad that we have kept our promise – emphasizes Grzegorz Kozłowski, President of the Management Board of PWiK Dolina Bobru sp. z o.o.
The enclosure also brings a number of technological benefits. It increases the efficiency and reliability of the treatment plant’s operation, limits the impact of weather conditions on the technological process, reduces the amount of sludge generated and improves the energy efficiency of its processing. The most important effect, however, will be the reduction of odour nuisance, which will directly translate into greater comfort for residents living near the treatment plant. Before work began, experts from Wrocław University of Science and Technology conducted a technological analysis that made it possible to identify the facilities requiring enclosure. The general contractor for the investment was MIKO-TECH from Łaziska Górne.
– This is an investment that will bring benefits for many years. It combines modern technological solutions with care for the environment and the everyday comfort of residents. This is how we want to develop water and wastewater infrastructure—modernly, responsibly and with the future in mind – says Grzegorz Kozłowski, President of the Management Board.
