Eight teams competed for the title of the best team in the German Rhein-Sieg district. The Bolesławiec team defeated the teams from its qualifying group in the quarter-final and semi-final. In the final, they faced their colleagues from the Rhein-Sieg district office. The German local government officials proved better in this match, defeating the Bolesławiec councillors 5–1. “Considering the players’ average age and the other playing conditions, we believe that we achieved a tremendous success in the tournament,” said County Head Krzysztof Konopka.

The age difference between the Polish and German footballers was approximately 20 years. The Germans were, of course, the younger players. However, it was not only the players’ average age but also the rules of play, which differed from those in Poland, that initially surprised the Bolesławiec team. Playing without throw-ins was a novelty. The side boundaries of the pitch were marked by boards off which the ball could rebound. The goalkeeper was also not allowed to leave the penalty area, as they can on Polish pitches. Despite this, the Bolesławiec team performed well in the tournament and secured an impressive second place. The Bolesławiec councillors want to get their revenge on the German team during this year’s Bolesławiec Days. At that time, the Rhein-Sieg delegation is expected to visit our city.
