22 years of quality journalism

The portal’s history began on June 21, 2004. Over that time, technologies, the appearance of the website and the way people use the media have changed. What has not changed, however, is what has been most important from the beginning – interest in residents’ concerns and keeping an eye on the people and institutions that influence the life of the local community.

Over the years, istotne.pl has become the most important source of information about Bolesławiec and Bolesławiec County. Every day we publish news, features, interviews and analyses concerning matters that directly affect residents.

We write about what truly matters to residents

In our pages, we cover the activities of the hospital and other public institutions, the operation of local governments, the spending of public money, residents’ problems, the situation in the largest workplaces, and the activities of foundations, associations and the Catholic Church.

We also address topics that are not always convenient for those in power. We are interested in transparency in public life, accountability for decisions made and issues that residents bring to our editorial team.

There is also no shortage of material devoted to culture, the history of the region, social events, sport and local initiatives.

The highest readership among local media

According to data published on the bolecistotne.pl website, our portal – and yours – records the highest average monthly number of visits among local portals operating in Bolesławiec.

The data presented show that the average monthly number of visits was:

  • 826 856 in 2024,
  • 869 162 in 2025,

The portal reaches hundreds of thousands of users every month who are interested in what is happening in Bolesławiec and the surrounding area.

A refreshed look for our 22nd birthday

To mark the 22nd anniversary of our work, we have prepared a new version of the website. The changes are intended to improve the readability of publications, the convenience of using the site and the comfort of browsing the portal on mobile devices.

If you have comments about the new look of the site, have noticed errors or would like to suggest changes, we encourage you to share your opinions in the comments below the article.
