On Tuesday, April 21, after 12:00 p.m., a serious accident involving a 12-year-old cyclist occurred in Wykroty. The boy rode out from a minor road directly into the path of an oncoming car. Emergency services were called to the scene, including an LPR helicopter. The child was transported by air to a hospital in Legnica.
Another incident occurred on the same day after 4:00 p.m. According to the police’s preliminary findings, a 45-year-old cyclist from Bolesławiec, in Nowa Wieś, struck the rear of a truck that had stopped before a railway crossing. The injured man also required urgent medical assistance and was transported by LPR helicopter to a hospital in Wrocław.
With the arrival of spring, more and more cyclists and scooter users are appearing on the roads. It is the beginning of the season, so drivers should exercise particular caution, especially near intersections, railway crossings and minor roads. A moment of inattention is enough for a serious accident to occur.
