The abandoned building of the former “Piast” hotel had been an eyesore for a long time. The investor finally began its demolition. Within a week, practically the entire building had disappeared. The site will now be cleared of rubble.
By the end of 2012, a shopping centre is expected to be built on the site of the former hotel. The investor, rather oddly, did not reply after we expressed our interest in renting premises, although unofficial information suggests that businesses are not competing for space. Apparently, there will be a Rossmann and a POLOmarket. Local companies are also interested, but it is not known exactly how many there are or what stage the arrangements have reached.
A shopping centre on Zgorzelecka Street was opened recently. Rossmann is already operating there. “By the end of September, there will be a sports shop (Puma, Nike, Adidas), a NEONET company showroom, an authorised Cyfrowy Polsat outlet, and the Nantes Health and Beauty Clinic,” says Ryszard Paraciej, co-owner of the building.
