The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate was informed by Kaufland Polska Markety about the recall of 3 batches of the product – due to the detection, during in-house testing, of Listeria monocytogenes in one batch of this product.
Consuming food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may lead to an illness called listeriosis.

What actions have been taken by businesses and official inspection authorities?
The manufacturer immediately – after receiving the information – decided to recall the defective batch and all remaining batches produced on the day the contamination occurred. GIS: – Additional measures were carried out to eliminate the hazard from the plant environment. The causes of the product contamination are still being investigated. The manufacturer informed the District Veterinary Officer in Mońki – who supervises the production plant – about the detected hazard.
The distributor, Kaufland, reacted immediately after receiving the test results for batch A062/A. In close cooperation with the manufacturer, a public recall procedure was implemented, covering both products on sale and those in warehouses, to eliminate any risk to consumers.
As part of the agreement with the manufacturer and at its request, Kaufland expanded the recall to include two additional batches produced on the same day, W062/B or W062/C, to minimize the risk to consumers as much as possible. The District Veterinary Officer in Mońki collected official cheese samples to test for the presence of Listeria monocytogenes from various production days and different batches, including the production day on which the product’s microbiological contamination occurred. The samples are currently being tested. The District Veterinary Officer in Mońki notified the authorities supervising the entities to which the plant supplied the product in question.
The authorities of the State Sanitary Inspection are monitoring the recall process.
