At the prosecutor’s request, the court ordered pre-trial detention for a 47-year-old man with no permanent place of residence. The man is suspected, among other things, of causing serious bodily harm to a 67-year-old victim. – The perpetrator stabbed the victim twice in the abdominal area with a kitchen knife. The reason for the attack was the suspect’s jealousy of the 41-year-old woman accompanying him – explains Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.
What did the investigators establish?
The attacker and his common-law wife had been staying with the victim for several days in an apartment in Lubawka. On the evening of March 25, while the men were drinking alcohol together, an argument broke out between them over the woman accompanying them. Spokeswoman: – The suspect, jealous of his partner, was holding a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim twice in the abdominal area. These injuries constituted an illness that posed a real threat to his life, so the wounded man was taken to hospital and underwent surgery.
It also turned out that another criminal investigation is being conducted against the man at the District Prosecutor’s Office in Kamienna Góra. In that case, he is suspected of unintentionally causing, on March 9, 2026, an incident endangering the life and health of many people and property on a large scale. It concerns a building fire in Jarkowice.
Prosecutor: – The investigation’s findings so far indicate that the man fell asleep in the apartment, leaving a lit cigarette that started the process of burning the furnishings in the room.
The suspect was arrested by officers from the District Police Headquarters in Kamienna Góra. After being brought to the prosecutor’s office, he was charged. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
The man admitted to committing the acts he was accused of. He gave an explanation. He had previously been convicted by a court.
