On 4 March 2026, the Regional Court in Jelenia Góra upheld the judgment of the District Court in Lwówek Śląski, which sentenced them to 8 months’ imprisonment and a 10-year ban on owning any animals a 46-year-old woman and a 53-year-old man from Mirsk, for abusing two mixed-breed dogs with exceptional cruelty. “The court also ordered the forfeiture of the dog they had abused,” emphasizes Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.
She adds:
The court also ordered that the final judgment be made public by publishing its content on local online portals.
The proceedings in this case were conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lwówek Śląski.
What did investigators establish?
From an unspecified date in 2024 until July 2024, the perpetrators jointly and in agreement abused these domestic animals. They hit them on the head, threw them against a wall and kicked them.
Moreover, as established, the defendants kept the domestic animals in improper living conditions. The dogs were confined to a cage for many hours a day, which prevented them from maintaining a natural body position. They were also in a state of gross neglect, and the defendants failed to provide them with veterinary care.
The perpetrators did not admit to committing the offense with which they were charged. However, neither the court of first instance nor the court of second instance found their statements credible.
The judgment in this case is now final.
