At the scene, the following were dispatched:
- two JRG PSP Zgorzelec units,
- two OSP Węgliniec units,
- one OSP Stary Węgliniec unit.
As established, a turbocharger failure caused engine oil to ignite in the locomotive’s exhaust system. Firefighters measured the temperature of the engine equipment and exhaust system components and thoroughly inspected the train consist for any possible hidden sources of fire.
After the temperature had been reduced to a safe level, the locomotive and the train consist were towed to the station in Węgliniec. The driver’s quick reaction and the efficient, coordinated actions of the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading and limited the losses to a minimum.
