The District Prosecutor’s Office in Zgorzelec is conducting an investigation into a case against a 35-year-old resident of Stary Węgliniec suspected of beating his 59-year-old father, resulting in his death. – It was established that on 10 February 2026, the father and son were drinking alcohol together in the apartment. At one point, an argument broke out between the men, during which the perpetrator punched and kicked his father in the head, face and all over his body – reports Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.
The victim suffered extensive bodily injuries, particularly to his head and face. This led to loss of consciousness and choking on blood, followed by his death.
After the aggressor was brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zgorzelec, he was charged. The man faces a prison sentence of no less than 5 years, or even life imprisonment.
The 35-year-old confessed to committing the crime with which he was charged. He gave an explanation. He had previously been convicted in court.
At the prosecutor’s request, the court remanded the suspect in temporary detention for three months.
