The incident occurred on February 1. At 10:30 a.m., the SKKP in Polkowice received a report of a fire at a Biedronka store in Polkowice. Firefighters:
🚒 Upon arrival, the crews from JRG found a developed fire beneath the building’s roof covering. The firefighters began extinguishing the fire from inside the building; however, after approximately 10 minutes, the roof collapsed. ⚠️ The rescuers had to evacuate the building immediately, and shortly afterward the entire structure was engulfed in flames 🔥
Unfortunately, three firefighters were injured during the operation. The command said: – They suffered shoulder and shin injuries as a result of slipping on freezing water used to extinguish the fire ❄️, as well as a hand injury.
🧯 During the operation, the firefighters also suffered significant losses of rescue equipment. Some of the equipment was burned, including a Lukas arm spreader essential for conducting rescue operations quickly and effectively.
The supermarket building was completely destroyed by fire, and the material losses are enormous. The uniformed officers summarize:
🚒 A total of 30 crews and 103 firefighters took part in the operation.
They add:
⏱️ The last crews finished the operation and returned to their units after 8 p.m.
The police are determining the causes and circumstances of the incident.
