Housing in Poland and Polish politics is some kind of driving force. Many politicians rose to political prominence by announcing housing programs under all sorts of slogans.
We know the slogan “Apartments for Young People” – repeated in various forms by several groups, including PiS and KO, focusing on housing subsidies.
“Rents cannot keep rising indefinitely” was promoted by the Left and KO.
“Housing for Everyone” is a slogan used by the campaign teams of KO, the Left, PSL, and also Poland 2050. Cheaper home loans were promised by PiS, but also by KO and PSL.
However, the greatest popularity was achieved by the slogan “Mieszkanie Plus,” coined by Law and Justice. And the person who took it most to heart was actually KO MP Robert Kropiwnicki, who built a genuine real-estate empire over the years. His 12 apartments of various sizes are not only investments – they are proof that serving as an MP can also pay off nicely.
Our politicians are trying to ensure that these poor people have a roof over their heads. How noble, how uplifting. Respect for them immediately grows. The poor are happy, while politicians’ approval ratings rise. A tear comes to one’s eye at the thought of how much this Polish official and politician sacrifices so that the “Working People of the Towns and Villages” have somewhere to live and build the prosperity of the Republic of Poland.
Our politicians passed such a law so that chosen officials at various levels could buy these properties for 1% of their value, that is, with a 99% “friendly” discount. The case described by Istotne.pl in the article An Apartment for Next to Nothing: Media Take an Interest in the Founder of the Ceramic Brotherhood and an Official is only a fraction of what was and is happening in our country. We – ordinary people – the voters, pay for it.
Why do you think the “VE-TO” Association and the Civic Coalition Circle in Nowogrodziec are lobbying for the Act on Public Lies
and Official Accountability? You now know why the Istotne.pl portal supports us in this, and why this initiative receives neither recognition nor even interest from any political group in our country.
