On November 27, 2025, the Universal Sport Congress was held at PGE National Stadium in Warsaw—one of the most important nationwide events dedicated to promoting exercise, amateur sport and a healthy lifestyle. During the congress, a ceremonial gala was held, during which the 2025 European Week of Sport awards were presented.
Among those honored was a physical education teacher from the Public Primary School in Szczytnica—Jarosław Sobczak, who received the BeActive Hero award in Lower Silesian Voivodeship. This distinction is awarded to people particularly committed to promoting universal sport and building lasting, positive exercise habits in their communities.
The award was presented to the teacher by the Minister of Sport and Tourism, who emphasized his consistent work to encourage children and young people to be active, as well as his involvement in sporting activities that go beyond standard school responsibilities. The impact of his initiatives on the local community and their alignment with the idea of the European Week of Sport were also recognized. Its aim is to encourage daily physical activity regardless of age or fitness level.
The BeActive Hero award is one of the best-known distinctions presented as part of the European Week of Sport. It is awarded to people whose attitudes and actions inspire others to exercise, take part in sport and look after their health, contributing to the development of universal sport at the local, regional and national levels.
For the school in Szczytnica and the entire local community, this is an important and symbolic distinction, showing that the daily work of teachers and sports organizers can also be recognized on the national stage.
