This year’s Pierogi Festival was held on Sunday, 29 May, in Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka. As in previous years, there was no shortage of fans of flour-based delicacies. One might venture to say that pierogi are the favourite dish of Bolesławiec County. Regular attendees have already learned that, to taste the most delicious ones, it is best not to wait until the last minute to arrive.

Soloists and groups performed on stage. The performers included pupils from the local primary school, Magdalena Opała and Jakub Kulpa, Martyna Janiec and Patryk Woźny, the vocal group from Kraśnik Górny, as well as the “Jutrzenka” Municipal Song and Dance Ensemble and Agnieszka Miszkiewicz.

In the annual competition for the tastiest pierogi, the women from Kliczków-Osiecznica took first place. The women from Bolesławice came second, while the women from Żeliszów took third place. The women from the Rural Housewives’ Association in Dąbrowa received a special award.

Additional festival attractions included a pierogi-making competition and a pierogi race, in which each contestant wore a costume resembling a pierogi. The event ended with a dance party.

The festival was organised by the Rural Housewives’ Association in Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka, the Parish Council, the Primary School in Dąbrowa, and the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre in Bolesławiec, based in Kruszyn.
