On Saturday, 28 May, BKS played its 27th match in the Lower Silesian fourth-tier competition. The team’s opponent was Piast Żmigród. Both teams are fighting to remain in the fourth tier. Our team began the match very nervously. During the first quarter of an hour, the visitors created more scoring chances. Robert Kaźmierczak and Tomasz Gajowy tried to threaten Sebastian Łokaj’s goal. The BKS goalkeeper made several successful saves. BKS did not record its first shot on target at the visitors’ goal until the 26th minute. However, Krzysztof Szymański’s effort was too weak to threaten Piast’s goal. In the 30th minute, the Bolesławiec side took the lead. Pressured by Krzysztof Szymański, the visiting defenders made a mistake that Jacek Bochnia confidently capitalized on, sending the ball into the net. From that moment, BKS gained the upper hand. However, our players were unable to take advantage of several good chances. Ariel Sworacki, Krzysztof Szymański and Jacek Bochnia missed the target.
The second half began with attacks by the visitors. This produced an equalizer. In the 61st minute, the visitors successfully converted a set piece. Following a cross into the penalty area, Grzegorz Sawicki scored. The equalizer lifted Piast’s players. In the 68th minute, the visitors scored a second goal. This time, following a counterattack and a cross, Dawid Wójcik headed the ball into the net. BKS players tried to recover the deficit. Unfortunately, our team’s play resembled “banging one’s head against a wall.” Łukasz Filipiak and Jakub Wołyński had good chances. The former took a free kick from 20 metres, but the visitors’ goalkeeper caught the shot without difficulty. Jakub came close to scoring with a header after a cross from Emil Nowakowski. Unfortunately, the shot was off target and the ball flew over the crossbar. BKS lost 1–2 to Piast Żmigród and once again found itself in the relegation zone. Three matches remain until the end of the competition. For our team, these will be do-or-die matches in the fight to remain in the fourth tier.
